Overview
This adventure takes us through forests, farms, plantations and villages of the different ethnic groups that make up the Luang Namtha area. We will spend the night in authentic villages, experiencing the traditional lives of these remote people. Along the way we will learn about the different ways the locals have utilized the forest for food, medicine, and construction materials. On the final day we explore the area from the water as we kayak downstream through the National Park.

DAY 1: VIENTIANE ARRIVAL

Optional: After a soft rest at the hotel, if time permit, we can visit Wat Si Muang, which is very famous for its supernatural power. At the pagoda, we can ask the monk to bless you with health and happiness by tying your wrist with a string. This is the famous tradition of Laos.

DAY 2: VIENTIANE - ORCHID TREKKING (B,L)

7:30am: The car and guide will pick you up at your hotel. After around 2-hour drive, we will arrive in the village of Ban Hatkhay. Here, we will meet the local guide, the expert for Lao orchid. Afterwards, we will drive through the small road among the paddy field to Ban Pha Say. From here, our orchid trek will start. We move on small trails and discover shade different forest types: semi-deciduous jungles, bamboo, accompanied by two guides and an expert on orchids. Do not be surprised by abundance of orchids in some places, all the rocks are covered! Some biotopes are extraordinary. We will also have the opportunity to learn many things on medicinal plants and other plant families such as: Cane, the Gingers, the Dypterocarpes … The picnic will be in the bed of a dry river any part of the year. The afternoon will end with a swim at the waterfall of Tad Say before returning to the village. Back in Vientiane expected around 18h. Overnight in Vientiane.

DAY 3: VIENTIANE - FLY TO NAMTHA - LIFE IN THE VILLAGE OF NAM HA RIVER (B, L)

Free & easy until our driver pick you up at hotel and transfer to Airport for flight to Luang Namtha
Upon arrival Luang Namtha, you will be transferred to Khmu village for trekking
The trek begins at a small Khmu village. The trail leads us up to the ridge line and through forest and some upland rice paddies. The guide will explain how we are working with the villagers to conserve and regenerate the forest. As we continue onward the trail descends down to a village which sits on the banks of the Nam Ha River. From here we continue following the river until we reach our destination for the night. When we arrive we will explore the village and learn about what life is like in this remote village. Overnight at local Family

DAY 4: DEEP INTO THE MIGHTY JUNGLE (B, L)

After enjoying breakfast we head off through the forest and along the banks of the Nam Ha River. This area is home to deer and monkeys, if we walk quietly we may catch a glimpse of them! We carry onwards until lunchtime where we stop to enjoy a picnic in the jungle with some local villagers.
After lunch we cross the Nam Ha River and enter the Nam Ha National Protected Area. Here the trail takes us through dense jungle and along a stream. We cross over a ridge and pass through rice paddies before reaching the banks of the Nam Tha River. We cross the river via a canoe to a small village where we spend the night. DAY 5: KAYAKING THROUGH RAPIDSAND VILLAGE - LUANG NAMTHA (B, L)

On today, we kayak down the Nam Tha River, which flows through a landscape of farmer’s fields and many small ethnic villages. We start with paddling instructions and a safety briefing before heading off down the river. Along the way we will encounter some small rapids and pass villagers fishing and farming. The kayaking finishes in a Khmu village, then we return to Luang Namtha. Overnight at Luang Namtha

DAY 6: LUANG NAMTHA FREE & EASY DEPARTURE (B)

1.The weather & our latest advice on the weather
Light clothes regardless of the season in the south and centre but for the visiting of temples and pagodas, make sure you have a top with sleeves (shoulders must be covered) and bottoms going at least up to the knee.
- Dec – April : 10°C to 25°C, Cool and mostly dry, Special From Jan to Feb : cold, From Mar to April dry and very hot,
- May – Nov: 25°C to 35°C, Rainy season
Note: from 5°C to 10°C less in the mountains; make sure you have warm clothes.
2.Visa
- To go to Laos you must have a valid passport valid at least 6 months after the date of return.
- The Citizens of the following countries are also exempt from Laos visas: Vietnam ( 30 days), Brunei (14 days), Cambodia (30 days), Indonesia (30 days), Japan (15 days ), Luxembourg (15 days), Malaysia (30 days), Mongolia (30 days), Myanmar (14 days), Philippines (30 days), Singapore (30 days), Korea (15 days), Switzerland (15 days), Thailand (30 days) and Russia (30 days).

3.International flight
Our offer does not include international flights between your country and Laos for two reasons:
- International flights from your country are more expensive if purchased in Vietnam or Laos. It is therefore more beneficial for you to buy them from a ticketing agency in your country.
- The payment and booking conditions for international flights are strict while it is difficult for us, a local agency, to apply the same conditions to you (full payment before travel). Since international financial transactions give rise to significant bank charges, you will be led to pay unnecessary surcharges.
4.Which language?
- The official and most widely spread language is Laos
- English is spoken in all touristic areas.
5.Cancellation Policy:
- More than 30 days before arrival: no cancellation charge will be done (Client’s non-refundable deposit will be forfeited)
- 14-29 days before arrival: 10% of the cost of the tour is forfeited
- 10-13 days before arrival: 40% of the cost of the tour is forfeited
- Within 10 days before arrival: 100 % of the cost of the tour is forfeited
